Rams’ Field Hockey Continues Strong Start; Boys’ Soccer Sees a Split

Field Hockey

The Old Saybrook field hockey squad picked up a pair of wins on last week’s slate. With the victories, the Rams’ record improved to 3-0 on the season.

On Oct. 5, Old Saybrook headed to Clinton to face off with Morgan and earned a 3-1 road victory over the Huskies. The Rams received goals from Grace Adams and Libby Stuart. Taylor Stone grabbed a goal and an assist in the win. Kayla Holt also added an assist. Kate Molesky made two saves in net for Old Saybrook, and Brianna Aspajo-Berdiales also made two saves in the win.

On Oct. 8, the Rams hosted Haddam-Killingworth and notched a lopsided 9-0 home victory over the Cougars. Taylor Stone had an impressive three goals to go along with three assists, and Kayla Holt also picked up a hat trick with one assist. Libby Stuart provided a goal and an assist, MacKenna Cooke supplied two goals, and Alexa Coty added two assists.

Boys’ Soccer

The Old Saybrook boys’ soccer team had a pair of games on the docket last week and ended up with a split after playing both contests. With these results, the Rams record moved to 2-1 on the season.

On Oct. 5, Old Saybrook hosted Haddam-Killingworth and grabbed a 2-0 victory over the Cougars. The Rams saw goals by Bradley Kulmann in first half off a throwing assist from Seth Adams and in the second half from Gannon Efinger on a penalty kick. Matt Rothman made one save in net, and Will Peralta added four saves.

Three days later, the Rams headed to Old Lyme, where they took a 4-1 loss to the Wildcats. Nick Rothman scored Old Saybrook’s lone goal of the contest. Peralta made nine saves in net.

Girls’ Soccer

The Rams’ had two games on the slate last week and took losses in both of those matches. Old Saybrook’s record on the year moved to 0-3 with the defeats.

On Oct. 6, the Rams headed to Haddam-Killingworth where they were defeated by a score of 3-0 by the Cougars. Three days later, Old Saybrook lost a 3-0 home matchup with Old Lyme.
