Diamond Zone Wins Beat the Heat Tourney


The Diamond Zone notched a 5-3 win over the Connecticut Edge to claim the crown at the Beat the Heat Tournament. The Diamond Zone 18-U baseball team won the Beat the Heat Tournament at the Connecticut Sportsplex in North Branford on the weekend of July 18. The Diamond Zone, which plays out of North Haven, claimed five-straight victories on its way to taking the tournament title, finishing off the run with a 5-3 win against the Connecticut Edge in the championship game.

The Diamond Zone team is made up of recently graduated seniors from North Haven, Hamden, New Haven, and Cheshire, as well as a few athletes from North Haven, Hamden, New Haven, and Wallingford who are going into their senior or junior years of high school.

The members of the team are North Haven residents Mason Balmer, JJ Mazzaro, Dave Christoforo, Daniel Meyers, Owen Pincince, Nick Rossi, Owen Silk, Ryan Sullivan, and Kevin Vining, along with Mike Aceto, Xavier Burgos, Nate Cerasale, Matt Cintron, Hunter Keller, Jake Michaud, Jabari Sharif, and Ryan Sokolik. The Diamond Zone is coached by Tim Binkoski.
