The Clinton Huskies 16-U AAU East Shore Travel League Baseball team had a pair of doubleheaders at Indian River Complex on the slate last week and came away with a tie and three losses. In the Huskies first two-spot, they played the CT Rage to a 3-3 tie, and then lost the nightcap 7-2. Later in the week, Clinton dropped a pair of games to CT Grind Carolina by scores of 9-0 and 9-2. With these results, the Huskies record moved to 4-8-1 on the season.

On July 28, Clinton had a solid showing in its first game versus CT Rage. Lucas Kamoen had a great night on the mound going the distance for seven innings on 80 pitches and allowing three hits, one earned run, and one walk.

The Huskies fell behind in the top of the first inning when the Rage scored two runs due to some fielding errors by Clinton. The Huskies put two runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game 2-2. Garret Garbinski got on base with a hit, and Brady Fritz laced a double to score Garbinski. After that, Ethan Reemsnyder had an RBI base knock to score Fritz.

The Rage took back the lead in the top of the fourth after a walk, a steal of second, and a base hit drove in a run. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Kamoen hit a single, stole second and was driven in on a Ryan Inglis pinch hit to tie the game 3-3. The score would remain that way until the game was called a tie at the two-hour mark as per East Shore League rules.

In the night cap, the Huskies struggled to hit the ball, while CT Rage made solid contact all game to earn a 7-2 win. The biggest issue came down to defense, Garbinski took the mound, threw four innings, struck out eight, and gave up eight hits. Several of the runs scored were unearned on account of errors.

The Huskies tallied four hits on the game with Garbinski knocking two, and Fritz and Inglis supplying one apiece.

Two days later, The Huskies had another doubleheader at Indian River, this time versus CT Grind Carolina. The first game was a 9-0 blow out, with the Huskies only mustering three hits. In the night cap, the Huskies had a 2-1 lead into the fourth inning, but then gave up five runs as the game got out of control. Fritz pitched and looked good until the fourth when errors allowed four unearned runs in. After that, the game was out of hand leading to the 9-2 final. Fritz ultimately struck out eight batters in five innings of work.

Kamoen had a good night at the plate with two hits and run scored. Garbinski had a base knock and a run scored. Fritz drove in a run on a base hit, as did Reemsnyder.
