The Shoreline Golf Society (SGS) saw some locals hit the links to compete in a few major events at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton. The SGS held its Seniors Championship, the Low Net Women’s Championship, and a Low Net Tournament on a beautiful day that featured fast greens, a high rough, and wind blowing off the water at the course. With 24 players total players competing, Old Saybrook resident Stu McKay was the only golfer who shot an under-par net score for the day by recording a net total of 66.

Richard Walden of Killingworth took first place in the SGS Seniors Championship. Two-time champion Rafael Martinez of Cromwell finished in second place, while Carl Boland of Ivoryton came in third place for the tournament. John Carbone took fourth place, and Mike Suozzi of Madison finished in fifth.

Donna Moss of Hamden won her first title in the Women’s Net Championship. Moss placed ahead of last year’s champion, fellow Hamden resident Sue Bobbin, on her way to taking top honors.

McKay finished first in the Low Net Tournament with his net score of 66. Neal Kellog of East Haven came in second place by posting a net of 71. McKay and Kellog were both eligible to compete in the Seniors Championship, but opted to compete in this event instead.
