Guilford Grey Fall Baseball Claims Shoreline Majors Crown


The Guilford Grey Fall Majors 11-12 baseball squad defeated North Branford in extra innings to take the title in the Shoreline Fall Majors League. The Guilford Grey Fall Majors 11-12 baseball team won the Shoreline Majors championship during the 2019 fall season. The team competed in the Shoreline Fall Majors League against three other squads from Guilford, as well as teams from Branford, Clinton, North Branford, Middletown, Deep River, Cromwell, Haddam-Killingworth, and Coginchaug. Guilford Grey defeated a tough Middletown team in the league semifinals and then posted an exciting extra-innings victory over North Branford in the final to win the title. On Feb. 1, the members of the team went to Grand Apizza in Guilford to celebrate the championship with Guilford Little League president Mark Donovan and detective Joe Duro from the Guilford Police Department, which sponsored the squad.

The athletes on Guilford’s roster include TJ Chamberlain, Alex Cieplik, Tyler Hallihan, Logan Herbin, Ryan Kennedy, Evan Krom, Ian Krom, Colin Letourneau, Austin O’Brien, Alex Riga, Owen Stoddard, Joey Tansey, and Carter Webb.

Guilford’s head coach is Jeff Letourneau. The team’s assistant coaches are Sean Hallihan, Patrick Herbin, and Joe Tansey.
