On Jan. 23, Hand swept a home meet by scoring 126.5 points to earn wins versus Mercy (125.4), Valley Regional (115.8), and Haddam-Killingworth/Morgan/Hale-Ray (48.3). Senior Carly Barba took third place on the vault with a score of 8.4 for Hand.

Barba, junior Kayla Cataldo, sophomore Riley Caruso, and McMahon have been turning in solid performances in all four events for Head Coach Kelly Smith’s team this winter. Freshman Ellie Davern is consistently contributing in the bars and on floor. Fellow freshman Eva Alquist is anchoring Hand’s lineup for bars event. Junior Megan Stefanowski has contributing in beam and floor, while returning All-SCC and All-State sophomore Paige Dean is competing on the bars. Coach Smith also noted that sophomores Riley Kilbourn and Ally Gabrynowicz, along with freshmen Sophia Pretash and Emalena Preveza, provide the Tigers with some depth this season.

Girls’ Basketball

The Tigers improved to 10-3 this season after winning both of their matchups last week.

On Jan. 21, Hand hosted Lauralton Hall and defeated the Crusaders by a 66-34 final. Sara Wohlgemuth scored 27 points for the Tigers in the victory.
