Several local athletes traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to represent the Connecticut Rush Select girls’ soccer program at the New England regional level at The Southampton Cup from Nov. 21 to 24. The Rush Select program was represented by three teams at the event and all three teams—2005, 2006, and 2007—won their respective tournaments. Many of these girls have been selected to represent the United States on the Rush Select national teams that will be traveling to Phoenix, Arizona; Italy, Spain, and Germany to compete this spring.

The Rush’s 2005 team included Killingworth resident Rory Parri, Guilford resident Arrianna Tomassi, Emily Smith of Clinton, and Kaitlyn DiLorteo from East Lyme.

The 2006 squad featured Guilford’s Claire Tuttle, Glenda Zhiminaicela of Clinton, and Quinn Pollack of Higganum.

Guilford residents Téa Gambardella and Yurika Ishibe, and Angeles Pina from East Lyme competed for the 2007 team.
