The Old Saybrook girls’ basketball team began its 2019-’20 season last week. The Rams took a 42-32 home loss against Old Lyme to begin the winter campaign.

On Dec. 18, Head Coach Steve Woods’s squad played a tough Shoreline Conference foe in the Wildcats in its home opener.

The Rams fell behind by six points in the first quarter, and were down by nine at halftime. After an even third quarter, the Rams attempted to mount their comeback in the fourth. Old Saybrook closed the game to four points with three and a half minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats pulled away when the Rams fouled to stop the clock.

Priscilla Gumkowski led Old Saybrook with a 14-point scoring effort and Belldina Feratovic provided eight points with some solid rebounding and ball movement. Kayla Holt took good care as the primary ball-handler in her first game as starting point. Taylor Cote and Jenna Tully also played tough inside in the loss as well.
