Hand Boys’ Hockey, Girls’ Basketball Start Off with Wins

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The Hand boys’ ice hockey squad notched a road victory against Amity in its first game of the season on Dec. 18. The Tigers faced off with Amity at Bennett Rink and came out on the winning end of a 5-1 decision. Hand posted an all-time program-best record of 18-5-1 last winter, advancing to the semifinals of the SCC/SWC Division III Tournament and the Division III State Tournament.

Girls’ Basketball

The Hand girls’ basketball team kicked off its campaign with an overtime victory versus Farmington last week. On Dec. 18, the Tigers hosted Farmington and claimed a 48-43 win in OT in a non-conference contest. Last season, Hand went on a run to the Class L state final as the No. 19 seed and took a 39-34 loss to Hillhouse to finish at 14-13 overall.

Girls’ Ice Hockey

The Hand-Coginchaug-Valley Regional-Old Lyme girls’ ice hockey squad played a road game against West Haven-Sacred Heart Academy on Dec. 18. The Tigers took a 6-0 defeat in the matchup at Bennett Rink in West Haven. The team moved to 0-2 on the year with the loss.
