H-K Girls’ Hoops Wins Opener; Boys’ Hockey Takes a Loss

Girls’ Basketball

The Haddam-Killingworth girls’ basketball team started its season on the right note by earning a road win over Portland last week. On Dec. 18, the Cougars went on the road and defeated the Highlanders by a 50-39 final in a Shoreline Conference matchup. H-K is coming off of a season in which the team went 3-17.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The Lyman Hall/Haddam-Killingworth/Coginchaug co-op boys’ ice hockey squad squared off against North Haven in its season opener on Dec. 18. The Trojans took a 3-2 loss to the Indians in a road game at Northford Ice Pavilion. Last year, the team claimed its first state title in program history by winning the Division III State Tournament on its way to an overall record of 18-7.
