It was another successful year for the Branford Youth Cheerleading program. The Hornets’ competitive and sideline cheer squads took to the field to support Branford’s Youth Football teams during the 2019 season. The cheer team’s fundraising efforts resulted in a $100 contribution to the Smilow Cancer Research Fund.

Branford turned in solid performances at a local competition that was held at North Haven High School. The Hornets finished first in the age 8 division, first in the age 10 division, and second for the age 12 division.

This set the stage for the Connecticut States competition in New Haven. Branford took second place in the age 10 and 12 divisions, while competing exhibition in the age 8 division at states.

By virtue of their performances in the state meet, Branford’s age 10 and 12 teams secured their bids to compete at the New England Regionals Championship in Lowell, Massachusetts. Both teams finished in fifth place at the regional meet.

The Hornets’ age 10 and 12 squads will be competing at the Quinnipiac Cheer and Dance Challenge at Quinnipiac University on Jan. 25.
