A group of eight dancers who train at The Dancer’s Studio in Northford recently returned from the World Tap Dance Championships in Riesa, Germany, where they won multiple medals while competing against people from around the world in a variety of categories.

The dancers qualified for the World Tap Dance Championships by virtue of their performances in prior competitions in the United States. They then competed in specific categories in elimination rounds at the championships, which took place over the course of five days and featured 12- to 14-hour competitions each day.

There were 33 countries represented at the meet, and the dancers also participated in the Parade of Nations. The United States recorded the highest medal count by winning 17 total medals. The competitors from The Dancer’s Studio advanced to the finals in 10 of the 12 pieces that they performed in.

Juliana Montgomery from Guilford earned two bronze medals, one silver medal, and also won a gold medal with her duo. Nicole Evans of Branford and Stacey Richetelli from West Haven earned a bronze medal in the formation category.

Karissa Fryar from Guilford posted two sixth-place finishes, one fifth-place finish, and earned a bronze medal in the formation category. Paige Rossicone and Taylor Levine of North Branford finished fifth in the duo category and received a bronze medal for their placement with the group and formation categories.

Piper Forbush of Durham also earned a bronze medal for both the group and formation categories. Scotland Forbush from Durham finished fifth with her trio and took the bronze medal in the formation category.
