Mayo Swims Two Events at the State Open

Senior Alex Mayo competed in two events on behalf of the Guilford’s girls’ swimming team when the State Open Championship took place at Yale University on Nov. 24. Mayo finished 13th in the 200 freestyle and placed 16th in the 100 freestyle to score 25 points and put the Indians in 36th place out of the 51 teams represented at the meet.

Mayo recorded a time of 1:57.16 to take 13th place in the 200 freestyle at the State Open. She had previously won the event by swimming a school-record time of 1:56.48 at the Class M State Championship on Nov. 20.

In the 100 freestyle, Mayo placed 16th after hitting the finish line with a time of 54.34 at the Open. Mayo took third place in the 100 freestyle at the Class M meet with a personal-best mark of 53.82.
