Cougars’ Volleyball Loses to Waterford in State Semifinals

The Haddam-Killingworth girls’ volleyball squad was eliminated from the Class M State Tournament when the Cougars took a 3-0 loss against Waterford in a semifinal match last week. The Cougars posted an overall record of 15-11 on the year.

No. 15 seed H-K faced No. 11 Waterford in the Class M semifinals at Fitch High School on Nov. 19. The Cougars took a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-9) defeat in the match.

H-K had qualified for states by finishing with a record of 11-9 in the regular season. The Cougars earned a 3-0 win over No. 18 Career in the first round, defeated No. 2 Prince Tech by a 3-1 score in a second-round contest, and then posted a 3-0 sweep versus No. 11 Waterford in the quarterfinals in order to reach the semis.

Prior to states, the Cougars competed in the Shoreline Tournament. H-K claimed a 3-2 win versus East Hampton in the quarterfinals before taking a 3-2 loss to Hale-Ray in the semifinal round.
