Falcons Win the Championship in Ben Callahan Flag Football League


The Branford Falcons won an overtime game against the Branford Lions to claim the Super Bowl title in the Ben Callahan Flag Football League. On Nov. 4, the Branford Falcons and Branford Lions faced off to determine who would be the 2019 Super Bowl champions in the Ben Callahan Flag Football League. The Falcons claimed the championship by posting a 6-0 overtime victory versus the Lions in the league’s title game.

The Falcons and the Lions were the top two older division teams in the league this year. Both teams consisted of 2nd-graders and 3rd-graders from Branford. The Falcons went undefeated on the season after playing two other teams from Branford, as well as other local teams, including East Haven and Guilford.

The players who led the Falcons to the title were Kellen Blanchette, Tanner DeFelice, Ronan Halpin, Cooper Knowlton, Bryce Levchuck, Kallen Moran, Liam Mullen, Gordie Noel, Sam Penner, PJ Piscatello, and Peyton Swanson.

The head coach of the Falcons was Scott Penner. Todd DeFelice, John Knowlton, and Paul Piscatello were the assistant coaches for the squad.
