Westbrook Field Hockey Tunes Up for Shorelines; Boys’ Soccer Makes States

Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey played its final game of the regular season and came away with a victory last week. With the win, the Knights finished the season with a record of 12-1-3.

On Oct. 28, Westbrook hosted Old Saybrook and netted a 2-0 victory over the Rams. The Knights scored a pair of goals in the first half and then held Old Saybrook scoreless the rest of the way. Westbrook’s defense prevented the Rams from taking a shot on goal.

Alex Young scored Westbrook’s first goal off an assist from Megan Greaves. The Knights’ second goal came from Delaney Belcourt on a helper by Olivia Hartzell. Lauren Horne played net for Westbrook.

Next up for the Knights is the Shoreline Conference Tournament. Westbrook earned the No. 2 seed will face off against No. 3 seed Old Saybrook on Nov. 4 (after press time). The victor of that game moves on to face the winner of No. 1 seed North Branford and 4th-seeded Valley Regional at the Indian River Complex on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Boys’ Soccer

Westbrook won its final two games of the regular season to earn a Class S State Tournament berth. The Knights finished the regular season with a record of 6-9-1.

On Oct. 28, Westbrook claimed a 7-0 road victory against the Metropolitan Learning Center. On Nov. 1, the Knights grabbed a 5-1 home victory versus Civic Leadership.

The Knights will play in the Class S State Tournament that begins on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Girls’ Soccer

The Knights completed their regular season by notching a pair of ties and taking a loss last week. Westbrook finished the season with an overall record of 3-11-2.

On Oct. 28, the Knights took a 1-0 road loss against the Metropolitan Learning Center. Two days later, Westbrook hosted Civic Leadership-Aerospace and the two sides played to a 0-0 tie. In their final game of the season, the Knights battled Amistad to a scoreless draw on Nov. 1.
