North Haven Volleyball Makes States

The North Haven volleyball squad won two of its three of its matches last week to improve to 8-9 on the year while solidifying a berth in the Class L State Tournament. The Indians earned home victories versus Foran and Sheehan before taking a defeat at West Haven later in the week.

On Oct. 21, the Indians claimed a 3-0 win over Foran (25-7, 25-14, 25-15) in an SCC Hammonasset Division contest at Fred Kelly Gymnasium. Junior Lily Pollard led the charge for the Indians by recording 11 assists, five digs, five aces, and three kills in the victory. Junior Alex Ferriouolo had five digs with two aces, while senior Ally Vauiso chipped in with five kills and two aces.

The following day, North Haven hosted Sheehan and blanked the Titans by a 3-0 score to qualify for the State Tournament. The Indians won the first set 25-16, took the second set 25-18, and then outlasted Sheehan to win a marathon third set by the score of 30-28 and complete the sweep. Senior Julia Lockery had seven kills to go with four digs and two aces for North Haven. Senior Eryn Sheeley served up eight aces, and fellow senior Melissa Seidemann contributed nine kills to the winning effort for Head Coach Brianna Kleckner’s club.

The Indians wrapped up their week by taking a 3-1 (19-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-22) road loss versus divisional opponent West Haven. North Haven finished with a record of 3-5 in the SCC Hammonasset Division this year. Lockery had six kills, two digs, and two aces for the Indians. Seidemann had five kills with two blocks.
