North Haven Fall Ball Takes a Few Losses


The North Haven fall baseball team took three recent defeats to move to 3-8-1 on the season. North Haven was swept by New Haven in a doubleheader and then lost a game to Amity Gray in recent action.

North Haven lost both ends of a doubleheader with New Haven on Oct. 12 by taking a 2-1 loss in the first game and then losing the second game by a 4-2 score. In the opener, Robert Farrelly pitched well in a losing effort by allowing two runs, both of which were unearned, in 4.2 innings pitched. Devin Santiago worked 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Shaun Murray singled home Chris Hager to account for North Haven’s lone run of the game that cut a two-run deficit to 2-1 in the sixth inning.

In the nightcap, New Haven broke open a tie game by scoring two runs in the fifth inning on its way to the 4-2 win. Santiago pitched solid six innings of relief for North Haven, giving up just two unearned runs. Hager had a single with a run scored and a stolen base, Shaun Murray walked twice and scored a run, and Anthony Denya had an RBI with a stolen base.

The next day, North Haven dropped an 8-4 decision versus Amity Gray. Ryan Balzano threw 3.1 scoreless innings of relief for North Haven. At the plate, Derek Novicki went 1-for-3 with a double, a run, and an RBI; Murray was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run, and an RBI; Anthony Acampora drew a walk and scored a run, and Jason Senberg hit a double.
