Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey team split its two matchups last week. The Knights took their first loss of the season, but then qualified for the Class S State Tournament later in the week, and now have a record of 6-1-1 on the year.

On Oct. 2, Westbrook had a road contest against North Branford—who has yet to allow a single goal on the year. The Knights took a narrow 1-0 defeat against the North Branford for their first loss of the season.

Two days later, Westbrook headed to Old Saybrook and played another nail-biter. The Knights secured a 1-0 victory over the Rams to close out the week’s slate and qualify for the Class S State Tournament.

Girls’ Soccer

Westbrook’s schedule included three games last week and the Knights ended up with a single victory after finishing the slate. With these results, Head Coach Rob McConville’s team moved its record to 3-5 on the season.

On Sept. 30, the Knights scored a lopsided 9-2 home victory over Harding. Two days later, Westbrook lost a 5-0 contest at home versus Old Saybrook. On Oct. 4, Westbrook headed to the Indian River Complex and lost a 4-1 decision against Morgan.

Boys’ Soccer

The Knights had two games on the schedule last week and took defeats in both contests. Westbrook’s record fell to 2-4-1 on the season as a result of its two losses in last week’s action.

Westbrook had a tough assignment playing two of the top teams in the Shoreline Conference. On Oct. 2, the Knights dropped a 4-0 road matchup against Old Saybrook. Two days later, Westbrook took a 6-1 defeat at home against Morgan.
