North Haven Fall Ball Splits Four Games


The North Haven fall baseball team won two of its last four games to move to 3-4-1 on the season. North Haven split a doubleheader against DBI, defeated Branford, and took a loss to Meriden in its most recent matchups.

North Haven took an 8-4 loss in the first game and then won the second game by a 7-3 final when it played a doubleheader with DBI on Sept. 28. In the opening game, Anthony Acampora had a single with a walk and a run for North Haven. Owen Pincince drew two walks and had an RBI, while Jason Senberg had a walk with an RBI.

In the second game, Shaun Murray pitched five strong innings, allowing just two runs, to lead North Haven to a 7-3 victory. Devin Santiago pitched the final two frames to close out the win.

Ryan Balzano was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, Acampora went 1-for-2 with three RBI, Alex Bauman went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and Pincince was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.

North Haven went on to post a 7-2 victory versus Branford the next day. Robert Farrelly got the win by giving up two runs (1 earned) in four innings pitched. Ryan Balzano tossed three scoreless innings to get the save for North Haven.

Farrelly helped his own cause by going 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI at the plate. Derek Novicki went 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk, a run, and an RBI, while Chris Hager was 1-for-3 with a run scored in the victory.

North Haven dropped a 1-0 contest to Meriden on Oct. 5. Meriden won the game in walk-off fashion by plating the lone run of the day in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bauman, Murray, and Farrelly all pitched two scoreless innings for North Haven in the game.
