Westbrook Girls’ Soccer Gets a Split; Boys Earn Tie Versus East Hampton

Girls’ Soccer

The Westbrook girls soccer team had a pair of games on the slate last week and came away with a split. With these results Head Coach Rob McConville’s team moved to 2-3 on the season.

On Sept. 23, the Knights took a 4-0 loss at home versus East Hampton.

Three days later, Westbrook scored a nice 3-1 win at Hale-Ray. Westbrook cored two goals to go up 2-0 at the half. Then the skies opened up, and it was quite a battle in the second half. Westbrook led 3-0 at one point before giving up a goal with 15 minutes to go. Ultimately, Westbrook held on for the win.

The Knights saw goals from Devin Mulvihill off a corner kick from Adrianna Stranieri. Mulvihill scored a gain on a penalty kick. Westbrook’s third and final goal came from Julia Farnoli, who scored on a rebound of a deflected shot from Riley Metcalfe. Callie Newberg made 13 saves in front of the net.

Boys’ Soccer

Westbrook played two games last week and ended up with a tie and a loss. With these results, the Knights’ record moved to 2-2-1 on the year.

On Sept. 24, Westbrook headed to East Hampton and earned a 0-0 draw against the Bellringers.

On Sept. 28, The Knights dropped a 2-0 road contest against Hale-Ray.
