The Old Saybrook-Westbrook football team scored a nice 27-6 home win over Pequot Rival Haddam-Killingworth last week. The Rams grabbed their first win of the season to improve their record to 1-2.

On Sept. 28, Old Saybrook hosted Haddam-Killingworth and got off to a strong start in the first half. The first quarter proved pretty quiet with neither team scoring, but Old Saybrook made up for that with a loud second quarter, scoring three touchdowns in the frame.

The Rams’ first score came on a Jack McDowell run for two yards, and Cooper Pavlovich’s extra point pushed the lead to 7-0. McDowell rushed for another short-yard touchdown and Pavlovich made good on his PAT to make it 14-0. Then Will Bergeron ran the ball in from the 4-yard line and the score moved to 21-0 after another successful kick from Pavlovich.

After halftime, Bergeron scored another touchdown on a 17-yard pass from Ed Fernandes to make it 27-0. H-K scored in the fourth quarter after it was all said and done.

Up next for the Rams will be a road battle at Windsor Locks-Suffield-East Granby at Windsor Locks on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.
