Madison Junior Legion Playing in States; Seniors Finish Season with Split

Junior American Legion Baseball

The Madison Junior Legion baseball team finished up a strong regular season last week and will be competing in the State Tournament this week.

Post 79 notched a 3-2 victory over North Haven in its regular-season finale on July 14. With the win, Madison finished with a record of 19-8 for the regular season and came in third place in the Zone 2 standings this summer.

Madison opened up the State Tournament by competing in the double-elimination portion of the draw in the Northern Division on July 22 (after press time). Post 79 is playing in a four-team pod from which the winner will advance to the East Hartford Regionals portion of the State Tournament.

Senior American Legion Baseball

Post 79 gained a split of its last two regular-season matchups to finish with a record of 11-16 on the year.

Madison gutted out a 4-3 win over North Haven on July 14. The next day, Post 79 took a 4-2 loss against Cheshire in its final game of the year.

Post 79 finished in fifth place in the Eastern Division of the Zone 2 standings.
