Post 79 Juniors Move to Third Place in Zone 2; Seniors Get to 10 Wins

Junior American Legion Baseball

The Madison Junior Legion baseball team recorded several victories last week to improve to 18-8 on the year. Post 79 now stands in third place in the Zone 2 standings heading into the home stretch of the regular season.

On July 6, Madison split a doubleheader against Wallingford by earning a 2-0 victory and taking a 4-3 defeat. The next day, Post 79 lost to Wallingford by a 6-5 final.

Madison bounced back by posting a 4-2 win over Branford on July 8 and a 7-5 victory versus Meriden the next day. Post 79 defeated Meriden by a 4-2 score on July 10 and then dropped a 2-1 decision to Meriden the following day.

On July 13, Madison split a doubleheader against North Haven. Post 79 took a 2-1 loss in the opener and then defeated North Haven via forfeit.

Senior American Legion Baseball

Post 79 is sporting a record of 10-15 heading into the final week of the regular season after picking up a few recent wins.

On July 7, Post 79 routed New Haven by a 12-3 score to take two out of three in that series. Two days later, Madison lost a 2-1 contest against Meriden. Post 79 came back to get a 6-3 win over Meriden the next day, before taking 11-4 loss to Meriden on July 11.

The day after that, Madison notched a 6-2 win against Cheshire. On July 13, Post 79 lost both ends of a doubleheader to North Haven by taking a 5-0 loss and a 7-5 defeat.
