Shoreline Cougars Claim Victory in Both Ends of Doubleheader

The Shoreline Cougars 19-U baseball team picked up two more wins in the East Shore AAU Travel League this past week. The victories move the Cougars record to 3-1 on the season.

On June 22, Shoreline played a doubleheader against CT Hanks Yanks and won both ends of the matchup. In the first game, the Cougars used a late inning comeback to edge the Yanks 3-2. CT Hanks Yanks took a 1-0 lead after the first inning and then expanded it to 2-0 in the third. Shoreline came back with three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good.

Sam Erskine posted a hit with two RBI in the win, while Ryan Kehlenbach and Omar Osorio had two walks and a run apiece. Carmelo Rosa added a hit and a run at the plate, and on the mound, Rosa threw six innings with two earned runs and nine strike outs.

In the nightcap, the Cougars took another narrow victory with a 4-3 walk-off win. The Yanks scored a run in the third inning and another in the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Shoreline responded with two runs to tie the game on a Lucas Kamoen base hit and an Osorio walk that lead to Josh Ross driving in both of them with a single.

The Yanks went ahead 3-2 in the seventh with another run, but in the bottom of the frame, Kamoen knocked a single, and Billy Crawford walked to put the winning run on base. Osorio reached on an error and Josh Ross hit a game winning double to cap off his impressive day. Ross finished going 3-for-4 with four RBI to his credit.

Alex Sheehan got the win on the mound with seven innings pitched, one earned run, and 10 Ks.
