The Clinton Huskies 19-U baseball team opened play last week with its first game in the East Shore AAU Travel League. The Huskies went up against Guilford and took home a 2-0 win thanks to seven innings of no-hit ball from John Urban and Ray Seward the pitching mound.

On June 16, the Huskies were originally slated for a doubleheader that was turned into a single contest due to threatening precipitation. The Huskies took home a 2-0 victory behind three innings of no-hit ball from Urban, and Seward continued the trend with four innings of no-hit work as well. Urban tallied 55 pitches and Seward hurled 54 pitches into the catcher’s mitt.

Clinton scored its runs in the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, Seward walked his way onto the base paths, and Mike Menacho moved him to second base on a ground ball. After that Ryan Inglis drove Seward in with a base-hit ground ball. In the fifth inning, Nick Caprio swatted a double. Then, Spencer Buckley got a base hit, and Seward doubled to drive in Caprio. Buckley also had several outstanding defensive plays in right field to preserve the combined no-hitter.
