15-U Huskies Lose Two Games in Springfield

The Clinton Huskies 15-U baseball team continued play in the early-goings of the AAU East Shore Travel League last week. The Huskies only got in a road doubleheader in Springfield, Massachusetts against the WesternMass Rebels and dropped both contests.

On June 22, the Huskies lost the opening game by a score of 11-1. The Huskies led the game one nothing after the first inning, but the Rebels eventually strung some hits together on top of some miscues in the field by the Huskies. Garret Garbinski pitched a solid four innings and gave up only one run before leaving the game.

In the night cap, the Huskies lost a much closer affair by a score of 8-5. The Rebels took an early 5-0 lead until the fourth inning when the Huskies started to mount a comeback at 5-3. In the sixth inning, Clinton tied the score at 5-5, but the Rebels would ultimately grab three more runs for the 8-5 final. David Sacco got the start on the mound and pitched well. Sacco also got a base hit and drove in a run. Garbinski and Brady Fritz also provided base hits for the Huskies.
