Branford Senior Legion Wins Big Versus Madison; Juniors Lose to Madison

Senior Legion Baseball

The Branford Senior American Legion baseball team picked up lopsided victory over Madison in its Zone 2 Eastern Division opener and then against Orange last week. Post 83 has a record of 1-0 in divisional play to go with an overall mark of 2-1-1 in the early goings of the summer season.

On June 11, Branford hosted Madison and claimed a 13-2 victory in a Zone 2 Eastern Division game at Branford High School. Branford scored three runs in the first inning, six runs in the second, and three runs in the fourth on its way to the win. Eddie Zanor got the start on the mound and pitched 2.1 innings to get the victory. Zane Kmietek pitched 1.2 innings of relief, and Aidan Ricciardelli worked one inning in relief to close it out for Post 83.

Zanor also had a big day at the plate by going 2-for-3 with four RBI in the win. Anthony Burzynski two hits and scored three runs for Branford, which collected 14 hits as a team on the day. Damien Maniscalco, Zachary Vandale, Alphonse Suppa, and Bennett Gentile each added two hits apiece.

Junior Legion Baseball

The Post 83 Juniors lost its first two games in Zone 2 action by taking defeats against Wallingford and Madison. On June 4, Branford lost to Wallingford by the score of 10-0. Then on June 9, Post 83 dropped a 5-1 decision versus Madison.

Prep Legion Baseball

The Branford Post 83 baseball squad took a defeat in last week’s action. Branford dropped a 13-3 decision against Stamford in a home game on June 9. Post 83 has a record of 0-3 on the season.
