Several Tigers’ Teams Add to Their Win Totals

Boys’ Lacrosse

The Hand boys’ lacrosse squad stands at 5-2 on the campaign after splitting a pair of clashes in SCC action. The Tigers earned a win versus Branford and then took a loss against Xavier in their last two games.

Hand defeated Branford by the final score of 18-8 on April 15. Jack Flanagan scored five goals and dished out four assists, while Tom Swank had three goals with one assist for Hand. Tripp Bordiere (3 goals, 1 assist), Liam Regan (2 goals, 1 assist), Conner Bergere (2 goals), Shane Reiner (1 goal), Tom Ferrick (1 goal), Dawson Gara (1 goal), and Luke Conway (1 assist) also contributed to the victory. Griffin Fitzmaurice made eight saves, and Clay Hayden had two saves for the Tigers, who outshot the Hornets by a 51-24 margin.

Then on April 17, Hand dropped a 10-5 decision versus Xavier.

Girls’ Lacrosse

The Tigers are now 6-1 after posting back-to-back dominant decisions.

On April 16, Hand defeated Lauralton Hall by the final score of 15-3. Two days later, the Tigers earned a 16-4 win over Law.

Baseball

Hand improved its overall record to 7-1 and stands at 3-0 in the SCC Oronoque Division following an unbeaten week.

The Tigers earned a 6-1 win against Career on April 16. The next day, Hand edged out Shelton for a 2-1 victory. Then on April 18, the Tigers recorded a 5-3 win versus Ledyard.

Softball

Hand split a pair of recent games to move to 3-4 overall with a mark of 1-1 in SCC Quinnipiac Division play.

Hand notched an 11-0 shutout over Rocky Hill on April 16. The Tigers then lost a 5-1 contest versus Law the following day.

Girls’ Tennis

The Tigers posted another trio of shutouts to improve to 7-0 this spring.

Hand swept Hamden by a 7-0 final on April 16 and then blanked Branford by that same score the following day. On April 18, the Tigers notched a 4-0 win against Shelton in a match that was shortened by weather.

Boys’ Volleyball

The Tigers moved to 4-1 on the year after winning their lone match of the week.

Hand won a 3-0 contest over Amity on April 17. Jeremy Long recorded a season-high total of 10 kills for the Tigers. Matt McSweeney had seven kills with five blocks and three aces, Finn Sheehan also had seven kills, and Jonas Bizier contributed 26 assists and two kills in the victory.
