The SharXLax girls’ lacrosse team—a squad of several high school players from the area—capped off an undefeated season by winning the Fall/Winter Session Championship at the Wide World of Indoor Sports in Oakville on Jan 20. The team finished its perfect year by notching a 22-16 victory after having played a nine-week season against 15 teams from east Connecticut to Westerly, Rhode Island. SharXLax was formed four years ago as a way to provide players with an opportunity to keep their skills sharp during the offseason.

The players on the SharXLax squad are Old Saybrook students Grace Adams, Lily Cote, Carrington Hartt, Sierra Jenkins, Allyson Kehlenbach, Alex Novakowski, Tristan Novakowski, Katherine Spotts, and Julia Swett; Valley Regional students Emi Bisson, Kathryn Burr, Maeve Collins, Celia Ghilani, and Tori Rider; Haddam-Killingworth student Abby Bagnoli; and Sophi Salgar, who attends The Williams School in New London. Tom Kehlenbach is the head coach of the Sharks, whose assistant coach is John Swett.
