Coyne Swims to Two Top-10 Finishes for North Branford at States

Connor Coyne competed in two events for North Branford at the Class S Boys’ Swimming State Championship last week. Coyne, a sophomore, finished eighth in the 200 individual medley and took 10th in the 100 breaststroke at the meet, which was held at Wesleyan University on March 11.

Coyne recorded a time of 2:04.88 to finish eighth in the 200 individual medley at states. He scored 21 points for the Thunderbirds with this performance. Coyne improved upon his time of 2:06.49 from the Class S Trials at the Cheshire Community Pool on March 9.

In the 100 breaststroke, Coyne came in 10th place with a mark of 1:04.45 at the championship, scoring 17 points for North Branford. The sophomore had swam a time of 1:04.25 at the trials. Coyne scored 38 points between his two performances at the Class S State Championship, putting North Branford in 25th place out of 32 teams in the meet.
