H-K Hockey Makes Division III Semifinals; Boys’ Hoops Loses to Morgan in States

Ice Hockey

The Lyman Hall/Haddam-Killingworth/Coginchaug ice hockey team won its first two games in the Division III State Tournament last week to earn a spot in the semifinals.

The 2nd-seeded Trojans dispatched No. 15 seed Masuk by a 6-1 final in a first-round home game at Northford Ice Pavilion on March 4. Three days later, they posted a 6-0 shutout versus No. 7 New Milford at the Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport.

The Trojans, who are 16-7 overall, will face No. 3 seed Newington (17-5) in the Division III semifinals at Ingalls Rink on Monday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. The winner moves onto the final to play either No. 1 Hand (18-4-1) or No. 4 Sheehan (18-5-1) in the championship game at Ingalls on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m.

Boys’ Basketball

The Cougars saw their season come to a close when they took a two-point loss in states last week.

H-K entered the Division V State Tournament as the No. 27 seed and traveled to 6th-seeded Morgan for a first-round game on March 5. The Cougars dropped a 56-54 decision versus the Huskies to finish their year with an overall record of 8-13.
