Guilford High School students Raya Signore and Julia Durso had excellent senior years while representing Indians’ gymnastics during the recent winter season.

Signore recorded season-high totals of 8.4 on vault, 6.6 on bars, 7.3 for the beam, 8.25 on floor, and 29.15 for the all-around this year. Durso’s season-best scores were an 8.25 on vault, a 6.4 for the bars, a 7.9 on beam, an 8.6 on floor, and an 30.0 for the all-around. Signore also finished with a score of 8.1 on the vault at the Pomperaug Invitational. At the SCC Championship, Durso finished 16th in the all-around with a score of 29.65, while Signore came in 18th place by scoring a 27.8.

Signore and Durso both represented Guilford gymnastics while training alongside and competing at meets with the gymnastics at Daniel Hand High School in Madison.

“I’m so happy we were able to give them one last year of competition before they graduate, and that they were able to experience high school gymnastics. There is such pride in competing for your school and for your town, and I think they made Guilford High proud,” said Hand Head Coach Kelly Smith. “Raya always had a positive attitude in the gym and worked hard to adapt her routines to the high school level. She fit right in with the Hand girls and felt every bit a part of our program. Julia demonstrated great talent, especially at her best event—the floor exercise—and is a great competitor. She turned in one of her best all-around performances at the SCC Championship.”
