Bauman Takes 2nd in 1,000, Gingras 3rd in High Jump for Westbrook at Conference Meet

Girls’ Indoor Track

The Westbrook girls’ indoor track team traveled to Floyd Little Athletic Center to take part in the Shoreline Conference Championship on Feb 2. The Knights finished in 10th place overall by scoring 19 points at the meet.

Senior captain Avery Bauman earned All-Shoreline Conference Second Team honors when she took second place in the 1,000-meter run. Bauman ran a time of 3:26.47 to finish second in the event. Bauman also anchored the Knights’ third-place 4x800 relay that included Brooke Neri, Marguerite Bartlett, and Cierra Brundage. The relay team finished with a time of 11:23.66 to garner All-Shoreline Conference Honorable Mention. Neri took sixth place in the 1,000 by running a personal-record time of 3:37.49.

Boys’ Indoor Track

Westbrook scored 10 points and came in 10th place at last week’s Shoreline Conference Championship meet.

Senior Michael Gingras garnered All-Shoreline Conference Honorable Mention for the Knights after finishing third in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet-4 inches. Gingras also took fifth place in the pole vault by reaching a personal-record height of 11 feet at Shorelines.

Boys’ Basketball

Westbrook took home losses against Old Lyme and Cromwell in last week’s matchups.

On. Jan. 29, Westbrook hosted Old Lyme and lost a 58-27 decision to the Wildcats. Jack Naccarato recorded seven points and six rebounds for the Knights. Brenden Engels scored seven points, and Ben Schrek had seven boards.

Two days later, the Knights took a 78-35 defeat against Cromwell in a home game. Naccarato had 11 points and five rebounds, while Schrek scored six points for Westbrook.

Girls’ Basketball

The Knights lost a 52-49 road game versus Old Lyme on Jan. 28. Westbrook moved to 7-8 on the season with the defeat.
