The Guilford girls’ ice hockey team held a ceremonial puck drop in honor of the late Pam Gardner prior to its home game against West Haven-Sacred Heart Academy on Jan. 3. Gardner was a teacher at Guilford High School who went on to become the principal at West Haven High School. On Oct. 25, 2018, Gardner passed away following a courageous battle with stomach cancer. The ceremonial puck drop was performed by Gardner’s daughter, Mackenzie Gardner, who plays for West Haven-Sacred Heart Academy; and Maddie Epke, a member of the Guilford girls’ ice hockey team who is Mackenzie Gardner’s longtime friend and youth hockey teammate.
