Rams’ Boys’ Hoops Rallies for Win Over East Hampton; Girls Lose to the Bellringers

Boys’ Basketball

The Old Saybrook boys’ basketball team notched a win over East Hampton and then lost a game against Cromwell last week. With these results, the Rams moved to 1-3 on the year.

On Dec. 17, Old Saybrook traveled to East Hampton to take on the defending Shoreline Conference champion Bellringers. The Rams notched an exciting 45-43 victory against East Hampton after outscoring the Bellringers 20-3 during a dominant fourth quarter performance. Old Saybrook was bolstered by a huge 33-point effort from senior captain Shane Henderson in the win. Fellow senior captain Dan Cote scored seven points for the Rams.

Old Saybrook and East Hampton were locked in a 9-9 tie after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bellringers outscored the Rams 19-10 to head into halftime with a 28-19 advantage. East Hampton continued to apply the pressure by outscoring Old Saybrook 12-6 in the third quarter, but Old Saybrook stifled the Bellringers in the final frame to emerge with the two-point triumph.

Two days later, Old Saybrook took a 61-42 home loss against Cromwell.

Girls’ Basketball

The Rams took a 59-16 defeat against East Hampton on Dec. 18. Old Saybrook is now 0-3 this season following the loss.
