Rome Swims Two Events for East Haven at the State Open

Norah Rome capped off her excellent freshman season with the East Haven-Wilbur Cross girls’ swimming and diving team by competing in a pair of events at the State Open Championship at Yale University on Nov. 16. Rome scored 20 points for the Yellowjackets to put them in 38th place out of the 53 that were represented at the meet.

Rome finished in 10th place in the 500 freestyle by swimming a time of 5:09.17 at the State Open, scoring 17 points. She had previously won the event with a time of 5:05.86 at the SCC Championship and also placed second at the Class LL State Championship by recording a personal-best time of 5:04.70.

Also at the State Open, Rome scored three points by coming in second place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.95. Rome had previously taken second place in the 200 freestyle at the SCC Championship with a 1:56.21 and then finished ninth in the Class LL State Championship by posting a mark of 1:56.01.
