Morgan Volleyball Drops Contest in Shoreline Quarterfinals; Football Loses to Cromwell-Portland

Volleyball

The 4th-seeded Huskies’ volleyball squad played a Shoreline Conference Tournament quarterfinal match against No. 5 seed Hale-Ray on Oct. 29 and lost the contest by a 3-1 score. Hale-Ray took the victory behind final scores of 25-16, 25-15, 23-25, and 25-21. Morgan is now 11-8 overall this year.

Morgan is competing in the Class S State Tournament this week. The Huskies enter play as the No. 12 seed after going 11-7 in the regular season. Morgan faces No. 21 seed Immaculate in the first round at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5. A win there would put Morgan up against the winner between 5th-seeded St. Paul and No. 28 seed University in the second round at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The quarterfinals are set for at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9; the semifinals take place on Tuesday, Nov. 13; and the championship match will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Football

The Morgan football team took a 48-18 defeat against Pequot Conference Sassacus Division opponent Cromwell-Portalnd on the road last week. The Huskies moved to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the division with the loss against Cromwell-Portland (7-1, 6-1).

Up next, Morgan is hosting divisional rival Coginchaug/Hale-Ray/East Hampton (3-4, 1-4) at the Peters Complex at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
