Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey team added two more wins to its total last week when the Knights defeated North Branford by a 3-0 final and then earned a 4-0 victory versus Haddam-Killingworth. With these two victories, Westbrook remains undefeated with a record of 6-0 on the season. The Knights have won all six of their games via shutout, outscoring their opponents 18-0 during that stretch.

On Sept. 27, Westbrook faced off against North Branford and posted a 3-0 shutout against the defending Shoreline Conference and Class S state champions. Westbrook got on the board in the first half when senior Carolyn Bauman scored on a penalty stroke for a 1-0 lead. In the second half, senior Lexi Koplas picked up a goal off a helper from senior captain Katherine Dahl. Later in the half, the Knights put the game out of reach with a goal by junior Olivia Hartzell that was assisted by senior captain Avery Bauman. Westbrook had nine shots on goal in the victory, while North Branford had eight shots. Sophomore Lauren Horne made eight saves in goal for the Knights.

Two days later, Head Coach Janet Dickey’s squad was on the road for a match against Haddam-Killingworth and defeated the Cougars by a score of 4-0.

Boys’ Soccer

On Sept. 24, the Knights hosted Old Saybrook and lost a 5-2 contest against the Rams. Three days later, Westbrook headed to the Indian River Complex in Clinton, where the Knights lost to Morgan by a score of 7-0.
