Boys’ Soccer

The Old Saybrook boys’ soccer team had three games last week and came away with a pair of wins and a tie. Old Saybrook defeated Old Lyme and Morgan last week to go with a tie versus East Hampton. With these results, the Rams improved their record to 3-1-1 on the season.

The Rams notched a big win on Sept. 21, when Old Saybrook and Morgan squared off for the first time since the two teams met in last year’s Class S State Tournament semifinals. Playing on the road at the Indian River Complex, the Rams defeated the Huskies by the final score of 2-0. The two teams played a scoreless first half, but Old Saybrook was able to get on the board in the second half with a goal from Paddy Ryan in the 45th minute. Jack Colella made it a two-goal advantage for the Rams by scoring an insurance goal in the 68th minute. Matt Rothman made 10 saves in net for Old Saybrook.

Earlier in the week, the Rams earned a 1-0 victory at home against Old Lyme on Sept. 17. Two days later, the Rams headed to East Hampton, where they played the Bellringers to a 2-2 tie.
