ACEing Autism Tennis Program to Hold Eight-Week Fall Program

The ACEing Autism program, a national non-profit organization that specializes in tennis training programs tailored to meet the unique needs of children with an autism diagnosis, will be conducting an eight-week program of clinics that will be held on Saturdays beginning on Oct. 13 and running through Dec. 8.

The clinics will take place at the North Haven Health & Racquet Club on 100 Elm St. in North Haven. There will be a session for children aged 5 to 10 from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a session for children aged 11 to 18 from noon to 1 p.m. The clinics will take place on Saturdays, Oct. 13; Oct. 20; Oct. 27; Nov. 3; Nov. 10; Nov. 17; Dec. 1; and Dec. 8.

Founded in 2008, ACEing Autism includes more than 60 program locations across the country. The Connecticut chapter of ACEing Autism was introduced in June. The program provides participants with the opportunity to learn about tennis, build confidence and social skills, and have some fun. It is conducted by trained tennis professionals, with support from volunteers, to provide one-on-one support for each child who participates in the training.

There is a participation fee of $20 per person for each clinic or a total of $160 for the entire eight-week session. However, the ACEing Autism organization does not want affordability to be an issue that prevents interested families from participating in the program. If parents have concerns about affordability, there is a scholarship program that can be applied for as part of the online registration process.
