Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey squad notched its first win of the year by earning a 7-0 home victory over Somers on Sept. 7. Head Coach Janet Dickey’s team hopes to remain a contender coming off of last year’s 9-5-5 season that included appearances in the Shoreline Conference Tournament and the Class S State Tournament.

The Knights saw strong performances from junior Lexi Koplas, who had a hat trick; senior Avery Bauman, who netted a pair of goals. Junior Olivia Hartzell scored a goal to go along with two assists. Sophomore Megan Greaves scored a goal, while seniors Carolyn Bauman and Katherine Dahl, junior Alex Young, and sophomore Liz Gallagher each had an assist in the victory.

Westbrook stormed out to a commanding lead by scoring five goals in the first half without allowing a shot on goal. For the game, Westbrook took 36 shots on net and held Somers to just one shot, which sophomore goalie Lauren Horne stopped.

Boys’ Soccer
