Morgan JV Boys’ Hoops Captures Summer League Title


Morgan’s JV boys’ hoops squad defeated Xavier in double overtime to take the title in the Mike Small Summer Basketball League. The JV boys’ basketball team from The Morgan School recently competed in the Mike Small Summer Basketball League in Wallingford and was crowned the league’s champion by earning a double-overtime victory over Xavier in the title game. The Huskies competed against teams from Branford, Lyman Hall, Sheehan, Southington, and Xavier high schools during the season, finishing league play with a record of 8-2. Morgan received a first-round bye in the playoffs and advanced to the final via a forfeit victory. In a back-and-forth championship game, the Huskies finished off their season with an exciting double-overtime win versus Xavier to claim the league crown. The athletes who guided Morgan to the title were Dominic Cacopardo, Cam Carlson, Jason Cohen, Connor Duffy, Alex Fratamico, Zach Johnson, Gavin Krott, Drew Nye, Mason Smith, Alex Urban, and Robbie Zirlis. The Huskies were coached by Boyd Johnson, Jeff Cohen, and Rob Zirlis.
