North Haven Prep Legion Eliminated from States by Stamford

The North Haven Prep American Legion baseball team was eliminated from the State Tournament when Post 76 took a 2-0 loss to Stamford at Cubeta Stadium on July 31. Stamford grabbed the early lead by scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning and then added an insurance run by scoring again in the bottom of the sixth. North Haven finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 14-15.

Previously, Post 76 had finished with a record of 10-10 in Zone A play during the regular season to come in fourth place in the standings. The team also went 2-3 in its non-zone contests. In the State Tournament, North Haven started off the double-elimination Regional portion of the bracket by taking a 5-4 loss against Ridgefield. Post 76 then won a 5-3 contest over Glastonbury in an elimination game, followed by a 10-4 win against Branford in another elimination game to advance to its matchup with Stamford.
