Cubs Still Clinging to First Place After Week 15

The Cubs maintained their half-game over the Red Sox for first place in the standings after the dust settled on Week 15 of the Deep River Horseshoe League. Meanwhile, the Dodgers took sole possession of third place. In other league news, Ivoryton’s iCRV radio will begin broadcasting live from the First Congregational Green on Thursday, July 26 at 6 p.m. to capture all the shoe-tossing action.

In the A Division last week, the Yankees’ Mike Zanelli, Sr., posted the week’s highest score by throwing a 141. Billy Beckwith of the Red Sox came in second place with a score of 136, while the Royals’ Frank Jolly took third with a 135.

Ed Turner of the Marlins was tops in the B Division after tossing a 116 during Week 15 play. The Red Sox’s Dennis Allen and the Cubs’ Robert Robinson tied for second place with a score of 114.

For the C Division, Gary Beckwith of the Giants came in first place with a score of 104. The Cubs’ Tony Cutone picked up second with a score of 87, and Howie Fisher of the Yankees finished in third place with a score of 81.

In the league standings, the Cubs are in first place with their record of 57.5-32.5. The Red Sox are in second place at 57-33, and the Dodgers sit in third place at 51.5-38.5. The Yankees are right behind in fourth place with a mark of 51-39, while the Pirates are in fifth with a record of 50.5-39.5.

Here are the rest of the league’s standings: Orioles (49-41), Astros (48.5-41.5), Marlins (48-42), Cardinals (46-44), Mets (45.5-44.5), Tigers (44.5-45.5), Rangers (43.5-46.5), Braves (40-50), Giants (40-50), Indians (40-50), Reds (39-51), Angels (38.5-51.5), White Sox (37-53), Royals (36.5-53.5), and Padres (36.5-53.5).
