Red Sox Vault into First Place in Deep River Horseshoe League

The Deep River Horseshoe League recently hit the midpoint of the 2018 regular season when the league recently contested its 10th week of play. There was some shuffling at the top of the standings as the Red Sox surpassed the Astros for the top spot in the league standings and now hold a three-game lead for first place.

Mark Goodale of the Mets led the way in Division A with a score of 150 during Week 10 action. The Royals’ Frank Jolly was close behind him with a 145 for second place. Taking third place in the A tier was the Yankees’ Mike Zanelli, Sr., with a score of 140.

Dennis Allen of the Red Sox led the B Division with a score of 130, while the Cardinals’ John Nilson tossed a 118 to take second. Next among the B Division players was the Orioles’ Cody Layton, who threw for a score of 107.

As for the C Division, Tony Cutone of the Cubs turned in a score of 114 to lead the pack. The Braves’ Joe Machado finished second with a score of 88, and the Giants’ Gary Beckwith came in third place with a score of 83.

In the league standings, the Red Sox are in first place with a record of 40.5-19.5. The Cubs and the Astros are tied for second place as both teams have records of 37.5-22.5. The Pirates and Yankees are tied for fourth place with their marks of 35.5-24.5.

The rest of the standings shake out as follows: Cardinals (34-26), Orioles (33-27), Dodgers (32.5-27.5), Marlins (31.5-28.5), Rangers (30.5-29.5), Mets (27-33), Tigers (27-33), Tigers (27-33), Reds (26.5-33.5), Braves (26.5-33.5), Royals (24.5-35.5), Indians (34.5-35.5), Padres (24.5-35.5), Angels (22.5-37.5), and White Sox (22-38).

The Deep River Horseshoe League has 20 teams that feature three players of each of the A, B, and C divisions. The league plays every Thursday night on the First Congregational Green in Deep River and welcomes anyone to come watch its contests. For info, visit deepriverhorseshoes.com.
