Post 83 Seniors and Juniors Both Sweep Doubleheader from Stratford

Senior Legion Baseball

The Branford Senior American Legion baseball team opened up Zone 2 action by hitting the road to face Stratford for a doubleheader on June 16. Post 83 took both ends of the doubleheader by winning the first game 4-3 and then posting a 4-0 shutout in the second game. Branford is 2-0 in the zone and 2-2 overall on the young season.

On June 11, Branford hosted the Connecticut Club Gamecocks and dropped a 5-2 decision in a non-zone game. Two days later, Post 83 was home to ace the Hamden Yard Dogs and lost a 1-0 decision in another non-zone contest. Then on June 16, Branford traveled to Penders Field for a Zone 2 doubleheader and took both ends of set against Stratford. Post 83 edged out Stratford by a 4-3 final in the opening contest, after which they prevailed via a 4-0 shutout in the nightcap to begin zone play on a positive note.

Junior Legion Baseball

Post 83 earned a doubleheader sweep at home against Zone 2 opponent Stratford on June 16. Branford defeated Stratford by 8-2 and 6-1 finals to get the sweep of the double dip. Post 83 had previously taken a 3-0 at East Haven in a Zone 2 game on June 10. Branford is 2-1 in the zone and 3-5 overall this year.

Prep Legion Baseball

Branford dropped a 6-2 home decision versus Wallingford in a Zone A contest on June 10. Post 83 has a record of 1-2 in the zone to go with an overall mark of 2-4 this season.
