Post 76 Seniors Sweep Doubleheader with East Haven; Juniors Take Three from New Haven

Senior Legion Baseball

The North Haven Senior American Legion baseball team opened up Zone 2 action by sweeping a doubleheader at East Haven on June 15. Post 76 prevailed by final scores of 9-4 and 7-4 to start off zone play at 2-0, while improving to 4-0 overall on the young season.

On June 13, North Haven hosted the Shoreline Cougars for a non-zone game and won 18-2. Three days later, Post 76 took both ends of a doubleheader in East Haven. In the first game, Tom Myjak earned the win in relief by pitching five scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out seven batters. North Haven drew 15 walks in the victory, including four by Kevin Lucey and three by Dave Christoforo. Zach Pincince had a double with an RBI, Brendan Clark singled with two RBI, and Andrew Laudano singled and drew two walks in the 9-4 win.

In the second game, Clark tossed six shutout innings of relief to get the win. He also had a single with three stolen bases. Christoforo singled twice with two stolen bases and an RBI, Steven Erbe doubled and had two RBI, plus Peyton Farina had a double with an RBI and a pair of stolen bases to help North Haven earn the 7-4 victory.

Junior Legion Baseball

Post 76 kicked off Zone 2 play by sweeping a three-game series with New Haven last week. North Haven is 3-0 in the zone and 3-4 overall this year.

North Haven took a 9-7 loss to Diamond Zone in a non-zone matchup on June 10. Then on June 12, Post 76 hosted New Haven for its Zone 2 opener and won 10-0. The next day, North Haven was on the road to face New Haven and earned a 15-2 victory. The following day, North Haven had another home game against New Haven and won 8-0. On June 16, North Haven took two non-zone defeats in East Lyme, losing a 7-3 decision to TCB and a 7-2 contest versus the Connecticut Hurricanes.

Prep Legion Baseball

North Haven swept a doubleheader against West Haven, before splitting a pair of games versus Meriden last week. Post 76 has a record of 3-3 in Zone A play.

On June 10, North Haven won both ends of a home doubleheader with West Haven, winning 9-5 and 11-1. On June 13, Post 76 hosted Meriden and took a 6-5 defeat. Three days later, North Haven faced Meriden on the road and prevailed 14-3.
