North Branford’s Tressel and Huisman Honored at Unified Sports Banquet

Two students who participate the North Branford Intermediate School Unified Sports program were recently honored at the 16th annual Michael’s Jewelers Unified Sports Cup Awards banquet that was held at the Aqua Turf in Southington. Eighth-grade student Amanda Tressel and 7th-grader Alex Huisman were presented with the Mike Savage Teammate Award of Excellence at the middle-school level for their participation as Thunderbirds’ athletes in the Unified Sports program. Unified Sports is part of the Special Olympics, as well as the Connecticut Association of Schools/Connecticut Interscholastic Conference (CAS-CIAC). The banquet was attended by both Tressel and Huisman, along with their parents, Unified Sports coaches Babby Nuhn and Jessica Morison, and members of the school administration.
