Post 79 Senior Legion Sweeps Three from East Haddam

The Madison Senior American Legion baseball team is out to 3-4 start in Zone 3 play for its 2018 campaign, having recently swept a three-game series against East Haddam.

Post 79 started the season by earning a 7-1 road victory over East Haddam on June 9 as Liam Wallace and Brian Dowling combined for the win on the mound. Then on June 10, Madison nabbed an 11-4 home victory versus East Haddam. Aiden Patrick and MacHugh Messier pitched for Madison in the victory. Post 79 then moved to 3-0 with a 5-4 home win versus East Haddam on June 12. Jack Pireaux threw 6.2 innings, after which Mike Catalano retired the final batter of the game.

Facing Southington on June 13, Madison took a 3-0 shutout loss on the road. Ian Tolis and Messier were the pitchers for Post 79. Madison then took a 10-0 loss against Southington on June 14.

Post 79 lost by 5-2 and 3-0 scores in a doubleheader against Guilford on June 16 at home. Michael Elias pitched a complete game in the opener, and Wallace and MacHugh pitched for Madison in the nightcap.
